72. Real eyes realize

Don’t just look — perceive.

Sometimes, the truth isn’t what you see. You have to look beyond what’s in front of you and deeper into the motivations of the people who acted.

Sometimes, people do things to have you respond in a certain way. If you’re able to put this aside, you might be able to understand what that person is hiding.

Everyone is hiding something. They use words and actions to bamboozle and mislead so that you may never truly understand them.

Some people fear being understood — for them it’s the final citadel of power and leverage they have.

But that’s the wrong idea. Being understood by other people can actually help them understand themselves to a greater degree. First though, they have to let someone in. Let that person be you.
