88. Tame the beast

Whether its internal or external.
External beasts are…
- our environment: some people are born into the cruddiest environments. They end up thriving, but only after seeing the opportunity presented through their environment.
- what happens to us: we can’t control what happens to us. We can control how we react to things, though.
Internal beasts are…
- our emotions: they can make us feel like we’re in the gutter or they can make us feel like we’re flying. Mastery means being at peace with them whatever we’re feeling.
- our urges: bad habits stop us from being better people. It takes considerable effort to undo bad habits, but if we keep at it and replace them with good habits, the world is our oyster.
