91. It’s not a bad thing to hope
That’s the only reason anyone tries to do anything.

I’m hoping to become a successful writer one day where income from sales of my books can support a my lifestyle so I can quit my job. I’m also hoping that I’ll be able to finally take my wife to see the Northern Lights like I promised her years ago.
It feels naive saying that, but it also fires me up. I have clear goals in mind and while they’re currently far and out of reach, I at least have a North Star to move towards.
Hope makes people seem foolish. Most days, I don’t think this. When I see people who hope for crazy things, I can’t help but think they’re naive. But the smallest part of me is also envious that they can either be so unaware or brave enough to dare to dream.
In the end, you do have to suspend some disbelief if you want to achieve something unbelievable.
