A magical town where there are no roads and ducks are the loudest sound you’ll hear

These photos are so relaxing, thought I’d share them.
Water everywhere — and the sunset photos are (omg) glorious.

This is Giethoorn, in the Netherlands…

Its first inhabitants (around 1230) found peat deposits and dug so many holes they turned into lakes and canals.

Walking paths and around 180 wooden bridges. That’s how people get around there. No roads. No cars. No traffic. Can you even imagine?!

It’s like something out of a storybook…

The village website says “the loudest sound you can normally hear is the quacking of a duck or the noise made by other birds.

Whisper boats and Canal Cruises

People use “whisper boats,” which are boats with noiseless engines.
There’s also a Canal Cruise by water bus.

OMG, the sunsets…

If you thought daytime was beautiful…

It’s small, but tourist friendly…

The town only has 2600 residents, but they have lots of accommodation for visitors at Hotels, B&Bs and even AirBnB.

It’s 2 hours from Amsterdam…

August is the busiest tourist month, in case you’re not big on crowds…

Couldn’t you just sit here for hours? I could!

Hope you enjoyed the photos!
