We have to remember to keep our manners. Our manners are the outward manifestations of decency and dignity. That is what keeps us separate from the machines.

So, remember to say “please” and “thank you” to Siri, or Alexa, or Google Home. One doesn’t need to, but therein lies the point. As soon as we dispense with human decency because we reason that a machine does not appreciate it, we will be tricking ourselves out of our own humanity.

As soon as we become like them, we will be done for.

It won’t be a rise of the machines. It will be a sinking of the humans.
