Funny what you find when you’re not looking.

I was reading Seth Godin’s blog and found this image from VisualizingEconomics.com.

Color me confused. Why so many non-voters?

Know what strikes me as bizarre? If all those non-voters didn’t like either candidate, there’s enough of the “grey” folk to have elected one of the alternate candidates if they’d cared to unify efforts somehow.

Your results look like a freaking Canadian election…

I’m a Canuck. Every federal election, we have the Libs, Dems and Cons — plus the green party, and then a motley group of others. Which means whoever wins usually won with a minority vote, because with that many candidates, everyone gets a minority of the votes and it’s only which minority is bigger than the other minorities. Which is convoluted and more than a bit nuts, but that’s how it works here.

Somehow, with 2 primary parties, you’ve managed to do the same thing we Canucks do, which is to put someone into office that doesn’t actually represent most of the people.

What’s up with all the non-voters?

I don’t even know… But if you liked this, please click the ❤ to share!
