Conversations with Fear

My fears whisper softly in the back of my mind as I work in my business. Sometimes I am so busy, the whispered worries, get pushed to the back of my business plans and I don’t answer them back right away. Sometimes the anxiety rages and I can’t quite see what my next step is through the angst and worry. That’s when I know I can’t ignore my fears anymore.

So I picture a boardroom with a big table and each fear has it’s own seat. I look around and they introduce themselves:

  • Why would anyone buy something from you?
  • What if it’s not good enough?
  • What if you become so successful you won’t have time for family and friends?
  • Why are you even doing this?

I thank them for coming to the table and we begin our negotiations.

I ask the fears my questions.

They ask me their questions.

We talk about what each fear needs me to see. What am I missing that will make my life & business even better. We discuss strategy and impact. Ripples of influence that my decision has on friends, family and farther out from that — the world.

Conversations with my fears is about identity — breaking down the foundation of who I am and building it back up stronger with more purpose, more flow and more confidence.

Conversations with my fears is how I become.
