Flipping the script

“Life is 10% what happens to you 90% how you react”

You know that quote, right? Me too. I love it but find it hard to live by. Choosing to see the good in life when we are thrown curve balls is tough. It’s also really important we do this for personal growth. I’ve been thinking a lot about seeing the upside of things. I always return toward thinking positive as much as possible after I have let myself marinate in a situation enough.

Jen Sincero’s book, “You are a badass,” has become one of those books I listen to over and over again for inspiration. Each time I randomly select a chapter I find it somehow speaks to me with new wisdom and new ways to challenge myself.

In one chapter, Jen provides a super simple but effective technique to reframe life’s challenges by completing this sentence below.

This is good because _____.

So let’s say you get a flat tire driving the kids home from school and you have to wait two hours for a tow truck. This is good because you get to spend a few extra hours with your kids.

This is so super helpful in flipping the script on life’s challenges. Today I found myself thinking about this sentence over and over again. I’m flipping the script and starting to see how all of life’s challenges are helping me figure out what’s important to me in life and what I’m willing to do to get there.

If you get the chance to try this soon, I’d love to hear if it works for you too.
