Project 365: Day 3
The World Doesn’t Stop When I Get Sick
Flu season sucks! What sucks even worse is when you get a kind of flu your shot doesn’t cover! Normal flu shots only cover the three or four strands they think are the likely bugs for the season. It does not cover stomach flu! Yuck.
What happens when I get sick? Everything. The world doesn’t stop when I get sick. Having to re-arrange all kinds of meetings, including a business meeting for a potential contract stinks. I don’t want to pass on a stomach bug though, as that would cause the client to definitely not want to hire me. Better to re-schedule, than to share an unwanted germ.
So, did I write while I was sick? Was I that dedicated to my craft? The first day no. I was too busy throwing up. I love writing, by my head worshiping the porcelain goddess of doom was all that was going through my brain, and how much I wanted the sick to stop. So here I sit, back to writing. Not completely up to par, but getting there. The one thing that down time did give me a little bit of of perspective. That is always a good thing. I have been trying to decide a direction on a pretty big decision. I am walking away with a clearer vision on what I should do.
Letting go of, or re-ordering dreams is hard. I am finding when I am open to the possibilities, what usually comes my way is better than I originally planned for myself. I just need to have an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to change. The world doesn’t stop when I get sick, but it can give the fringe benefit of making me be still long enough to figure stuff out that I have been beating my head against the wall about.
