Stop disappointing yourself

I am not a prophet so I cannot foretell events, but I can tell you with the highest level of confidence and a sincerity as deep as the ocean, that every single mortal, will one day let you down.
This is ineluctable. It’s written in the stars, it’s the common fate of mankind.

There is a Latin proverb that says “ Homo hominis lupus est” which translates as “Man is wolf to man”.
I encourage you to research this and read about it.
The essence of it is that each one of us will (or know someone who will) go through situations where we will find how cruel the human heart can be.

To put this proverb in the context of this story, every man will disappoint you.
Friends, family, spouse, colleagues, and whatever more. If they breathe, walk on two feet, speak and have the appearance of a human being, they will disappoint you even if they strive not to. It’s not necessarily their fault.
Man is a finite creature with lots of flaws. Disappointing is just another attribute of the imperfection of mankind.

Now, here is where I want to draw your attention. If people will always disappoint you at least once, why do you disappoint yourself more than once?
You really feel the need to join the ranks of those who have let you down? Do you admire this long list of people that have disappointed you to the point that you cannot help but append your name as well as if it were a list of novel prize winners?
You have to stop! When you have set a goal, go for it. Fight for what you want. Follow your dream with the same desperation a drowning person has for air. Do not let yourself down, leave it to others.

Speaking about disappointment, there is always that one person that will read this and not put a heart on it to recommend it. That will disappoint me, but I don’t take it personal, it’s their way of showing me their humanity :-) (Please don’t take me seriously here…)
