Subconscious vs Unconscious
Our reality is a superposition of the conscious, the subconscious and the unconscious. (according to Freud)
The conscious mind — which functions as an awareness module — is only the tip of the iceberg ~10% of our mind capability.
The subconscious mind consists of accessible information, which can be recalled once your direct your attention to it. You can walk and arrive home safely while talking on the phone. Consisting of ~50–60% of our brain capabilities, the subconscious is in charge of our recent memories, and is in continuous contact with the resources of the unconscious mind.
The unconscious mind makes us the rest ~30–40% and consists of the primitive, instinctual wishes as well as is the storehouse of all memories and past experiences that we cannot access — both those that have been repressed through trauma and those that have simply been consciously forgotten and no longer important to us. It’s from these memories and experiences that our beliefs, habits, and behaviors are formed.
The unconscious constantly communicates — through feelings, emotions, imagination, sensations, and dreams — with the conscious mind via our subconscious, and what might be perceived to be unconscious becomes subconscious, and then conscious.
