This City

Violet
100 Naked Words

--

Sunny days, walking through this city.

Couples holding hands, hopes and dreams apparent in starry eyes, marred only briefly by cross words or misunderstandings.

Parents pushing prams, eyes searching for their next retail hit before heading home in time for their babies nap.

Men leaning against bars, pints in hand, discussing the ins and outs of life with magazine women, flirtatiously imbibing wine.

Children running ahead of restraints, eager to watch and learn and explore and run, ignoring the cries they leave behind.

And me. Alone, savoring and lonely in turns, walking through this city.
