Today is an important day
Because today in Belgium, the pro cyclists are competing for the Belgian title. The winner is going to receive the tricolour jersey, which he can wear for a whole year.
I like the Belgian jersey very much. It’s a beautiful jersey. With it’s red, yellow and red colours it stands out. You can quickly spot the Belgian champion in the peloton. For the riders, wearing the jersey is an honour. Every cyclist dream. They will fight to be able to take it home today.

Cycling is in our DNA. Belgium has a long tradition of good riders. Whenever there is a race in Belgium, you’ll see big crowds at the side of the roads. Needless to say:
Cycling is BIG over here. The riders: young gods pedalling on their steal horses.
Some people say cycling is dull. We don’t understand that. Cycling is super competitive. It’s rare that you can win a race by sheer luck. You win by being the strongest and smartest rider. You grab the cup by applying the best team tactic. It’s playing chess with a lot of muscles.
So today is an important day. We will crown our new champion. Whoever wins. We will write his name on a list already filled with legends. It’s impossible to predict who the winner will be.
But he will have my respect.
