Unseen hours

I have never heard of a gardener who was able to catch his flowers grow.
Perhaps, one day, he decided to bring a chair by the garden, sit, and just observe the flowers grow, and exclaim : “Ah! I caught you growing!”.
If you have heard of such a tale, please, I would like to meet this gardener and request permission to spy on his growing flowers.
My point is : growth can only be observed after it has happened.
You cannot watch a child gain 5 centimeters. You only notice it after it has happened.
Growth takes place in what I call “unseen hours”. It’s in the dark.
Back in the days, pictures were developed in a dark room. That’s where the magic was happening.
For those of us with a full time job, trying to build something on the side, we understand the importance of these unseen hours. When friends don’t see us, when weekends are spend in a cave.
The regular 9–5 is to make a living and advance another man’s vision. The unseen hours is to live and pursue your own vision.
In a broader context of this principle of growth, it’s not until you have done the growing that you can notice it. That’s why writing is a great habit.
After a few weeks, go back to the things you have written , and you will notice that your thoughts, your style, your technique has changed and improved. This growth took place in your unseen hours…
