Using eBay like a secondhand bookshop — #78

But nothing quite beats being able to touch, smell, and flick through a physical book in a real bookshop.

I often trawl eBay for second-hand fiction. There are a few great UK sellers who have massive collections of high-quality fiction, both classic and modern. I normally maintain my reading wishlist on Goodreads so if I’m ever running short on reading material (ha!) I’ll dip into my wishlist and hop over to eBay to see if there are any nice editions available, for a reasonable price of course!

If a seller has a special offer available for buying two books or more, I will sometimes view their other items within the fiction category and just browse until I see something that catches my eye. More often than not, it is the cover that stands out to me. Penguin Classics or Vintage Classics are always a good thing to look out for.

I have discovered many a new author this way. I’ll often just browse the Literary Fiction category of eBay to see what is available. It is like the ultimate online secondhand bookshop where you can discover new gems and learn about new authors.

Of course, it doesn’t beat actually being in a bookshop and being able to feel the books and flip through a few of the pages.

For the moment, the wife has banned me from bookshops as I have too many unread books around the house. I’m doing my best to get through them.

The great thing about the holidays is the chance to read, read, and read!
