What if you had the chance to start your life all over again… would you still be doing what you’re doing?
“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” — Mark Twain
For 27 years, I followed the crowd as if there were no other options. I was living a life on autopilot.
I had good grades in sciences, got an Engineering degree and I had landed a corporate job with a great paycheck.
The next step was, obviously, to settle down, get married, buy a house and have children.
However, one day, I asked myself: Do I really want THIS life? or is it just because everyone around me is doing the same?
This is when I realized that, actually, I don’t want this life NOW. I still had so many things I wanted to accomplish.
Why settle down now? Does my boyfriend really is THE one? Have I landed to my dream job yet? Do I really wanna live in Paris?…
And after months of reflection questioning the status quo, I realized the choices I made were not real choices. They were choices by default. That’s why I wasn’t satisfied with my life situation.
Was it too late to start all over again?
Many thought so.
Did I listen to them?
No.
Because I believed life is more than that and I’m not gonna let myself get trapped in this vicious circle.
I’m gonna live my life on my own terms.
