Word 3: Hoodlum

When I saw this word, it made me chuckle because it reminded me of numerous times my dad had called me a hoodlum back when I was younger. Back when “sagging your pants” was cool and everyone wanted to do it. Even today he would comment about kids walking down the street with the same look, calling them hoodlums and then trying to say some other slang word to sound funny. In a way, I guess this word holds memories within its broader definition of “Thug.”

Just now he even said, “Hoodlum means someone that doesn’t buy donuts for their dad when he asks them to.” That “hoodlum” being me after I just ran to the store to get a new bag of dog food.

I have a good feeling about this word challenge; maybe I’ll learn different ways to unmask my blinded history and learn more about myself.

Yours Truly,
