Beth Rudin DeWoody ’75, Ardent Patron of the Arts, Philanthropist, and New School Trustee, Supports Rising Talent

Beth DeWoody, BA Liberal Arts ’75, is known for her remarkable collection of works of art and a keen knack for curating. Since DeWoody began collecting as a teen she has amassed more than 10,000 pieces of art, furniture, and design objects. This led her to open up “The Bunker,”an exhibition place in West Palm Beach that acts as a storage space for her and as a venue for curated shows. DeWoody is a prominent figure in the art world and, because of her astonishing collection, people often use her name as a stamp of approval for artists.
DeWoody is known as one of New York’s greatest philanthropists. She serves as Executive Vice President to the Rudin Family Foundation and a Vice Chairman for the Whitney Museum. DeWoody is a trustee for the Hammer Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, New Yorkers For Children, Creative Time and the Rebuild Foundation. Her board affiliations also include New York City Police Foundation, Find Your Voice, Inc., Design Museum Holon, Save a Child America, Inc., the Association for a Better New York, New York Public Library and the Library Association of MOMA. She’s also worked as a production assistant for several renowned films including Annie Hall and Hair. DeWoody is a trustee to The New School and is a member of the Parsons Board of Governors.
Her vast collection includes up-and-coming artsits as well as famed artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Kara Walker, Kehinde Wiley, Mike Kelley and Jeff Koons. DeWoody was an honoree at Parsons Benefit in 2016, which raised $1.86 million is student scholarships.
