From Disney to HBO, award-winning composer David Lawrence ’86 is the mind behind some of pop culture’s most memorable scores.

Award-winning composer David Lawrence, BM Music ’86, is one of the industry’s top film and television composers. He has scored films including, High School Musical 1, 2 and 3; American Pie 1 and 2; Van Wilder; Ambulance Girl; Pop Rocks; Life Without Dick; Muppet Classic Theater; Disney’s The Cheetah Girls, and many more.

On television, his scores have appeared on the HBO documentary, Becoming Mike Nichols, Jericho, Harper’s Island, The Cleaner, Cane, and Charlie Lawrence. He also composed music for three Sesame Street videos, including “Elmo Says BOO!,” “Big Bird Gets Lost,” and “Let’s Eat! Funny Food Songs.”

Lawrence’s score for Disney’s Descendants received a 2016 Primetime Emmy nomination. In 2002, he won an ASCAP award for his music on American Pie 2. He has also been commissioned to write two ballets for the Barak Ballet.
