Alice’s Dream

Alice was a junkie. Heroin was the drug of choice. She overdosed once and went into a coma. No one came to visit her in the hospital, no one cared. Doctors considered switching the machines off. Only one doctor refused, she felt pity for the junkie. Despite the malnutrition and heroin abuse, Alice was a pretty girl.

The doctor stayed behind to look after the patient. She worried that Junkie won’t wake up.

Months passed. The doctor was on the way home after a long shift at the hospital. Blizzard kept everyone indoors, no Uber came to pick her up, she had to walk. She felt exhausted but happy, Alice showed some progress. She didn’t notice the car flying towards her.

Alice dreamt that someone who cared left her. She became restless, she had to find the person, she ran through empty streets of an empty town. The blizzard was so strong, she couldn’t see anything. Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm. The beautiful girl in a doctors coat pulled her inside a building which looked like an empty hospital. They smiled at each other. Alice felt that the girl wants to say something but the dream was fading away.

“It’s time for you to wake up,” the girl whispered and kissed her on a cheek before disappearing in the blizzard.

Alice opened her eyes. She stood up and walked out. She recognised the building, it was the building from her dream. The deep sadness came over her heart.

The not so happy end.
