Adornments
Going to school meant becoming an adult. I balanced the transition with some Disney stickers.
I was lucky to have whole sheets of those because grandpa worked in the printing press. Every now and again he’d bring boxes of paper-goods for me and my one year younger cousin — colouring books, notebooks for school, and stickers.
Strong colours on the covers, a nightmare of design, and for my dad, the pinnacle of bad taste.
For me it was cheerful and more absorbing than the brown-grey colour scale of the grown-up world. I tried to make their world better putting stickers on furniture, but all my tries were considered bad taste.
