Tea
Black tea, pre-mixed with sugar, served with a ladle from a big pot. To me everything served in shared food halls was by definition semi-poision.
So, I didn’t understand why mum would order tea at cafes. It was just one of the drinks served at the kindergarten or any hall we had to eat at at school camps, or holidays. A rare outing to a cafe was her chance to escape the tea-tyranny — have a hot chocolate, or coca-cola!
Now I my drinks black too. Sometimes at a cafe I think maybe I could try something else — a flat white, or a mysterious smoothie. But the choice just causes me anxiety so I stay with black.
