I know someone who has a plush reindeer head on their living-room wall. It serves as a conversation starter.

Many people use babies as conversation starters. They show you images, and expect reactions, as if they just refurbished their kitchen, or bought a new scooter.

Being the well-socialised creature you are, you ask the right questions. The questions one asks when learning about a newly met person: who is this? What do they do?

The only thing you’ll learn is that you might not be as well-socialised as you thought. Next time ask about the reindeer.
