100 words about the egotism of embarrassment

Imagine you were to write about a time you did something embarrassing. Did you pee your pants? Did you get caught masturbating? Did you forget to lock the bathroom door at the café?

It’s mortifying, isn’t it? It makes you cringe to imagine someone knowing about these things.

Now, imagine reading someone else’s writing about one of these things. It’s either really interesting, or you just don’t care.

When you’re embarrassed, you delude yourself into thinking others care. Embarrassment is a form of egotism.

Don’t be afraid to reveal things that are embarrassing. Nobody is as embarrassed about it as you are.
