Practice deflecting distractions

It’s easy to build a habit of being distracted. Let’s say you check your email several dozen times a day.

Even if you aren’t checking your email, you’re distracted. You’re just waiting for another dopamine hit.

Next time you get the urge do succumb to a distraction, deflect the distraction. Then focus your energy on a creative project.

At first, it will be tough. You’ll feel like you’re tearing off a Band-Aid. But eventually, you’ll feel the pleasure of putting all of your mental resources into the task at hand—and doing the quality work that results.
