When you love your work, you aren’t always doing what you love

There’s an important distinction between doing what you love, and loving what you do.

You can’t make a living only doing what you love. If you love doodling, you have to market and sell your doodles. You’re also going to have to doodle during some times when you just don’t feel like doodling.

To do what you love, you have to also love what you do. Discomfort is inherent in work. You have to love your craft so much, that the discomfort is worth it.

You have to take pleasure in the mere act of work. You have to love your work.
