Writing is not just writing

Right now, there’s no doubt that I’m writing. But writing is not just writing. To write something worth reading, you need to think something worth writing.

To think something worth writing, you need to live. You need to have experiences that teach you something about Life on the Whole.

Or, you need to research — sometimes with the aim of writing, and sometimes just to refine your conception of How the World Works.

These things are the wood and graphite bolstering the sharp point of the pencil that meets paper. Without them, there’d be no point to writing.
