You better be an artist

Once the plumbing is done, what will society need from humans? That is, if the prophecies of automation come true.

The trucks will be driven, some of the news will be written, even the accounting may be done, all automated.

This isn’t a question of whether that would make life or society better. The question is, if that happens, then what is your job?

Work will move up Maslow’s hierarchy, once again. We’ve moved from human capital, to physical, on up to intellectual. Our next evolution is expressive capital.
