Last week, we published our annual ‘A State Of Dance Music’ report, providing a detailed look at the data behind the biggest sets and most played electronic music tracks in 2022. A record-breaking 7.1 million people used 1001Tracklists, visiting the site 64.9M times throughout the year. 67.5K tracklists were added, which is nearly 185 tracklists per day, and 100K tracks were added to the database!

Let’s zoom in on the key insights and takeaways from this year’s report.

Top Genres

Tech House (21%) has remained the top genre on the platform among the most DJ supported tracks from 2022, followed by Dance (19%), Trance (11%), Bass House (11%) and House (10%).

Top Tracks

Amazingly, for the second year in a row, ACRAZE takes home the #1 track of the year with his monster hit on Thrive Music, “Do It To It.” It’s a remarkable achievement for an artist that has found the perfect balance between the commercial and underground sounds. Coming in at #2 is “Ferrari” from James Hype & Miggy Dela Rosa. James Hype has grown from one of the best technical DJs around into a full blown star of the dance music world this year. Mau P is a brand new artist project which was introduced this year to a thunderous start with his Repopulate Mars release “Drugs From Amsterdam,” which comes in third place in 2022. Musical Freedom release “Move Your Body” from Öwnboss & Sevek comes in at #4, and MEDUZA’s Remix of “Tell Me Why” on Axtone rounds out the top 5 for this year.

Top Tracklists

Ultra Music Festival Miami was so dearly missed, both for attendees and for all dance music lovers eager to get their hands on the new music that’s always premiered at the March festival. With the return of Miami Music Week and Ultra, the festival was back bigger than ever, and its presence can be felt strongly on the site with 7 of this year’s top 10 tracklists.

Martin Garrix’s Ultra set was filled with big IDs from his label STMPD RCRDS and is this year’s #1 most viewed tracklist. Coming in at #2 is the incredible Boiler Room set from Fred Again.., a performance that’s rocketed him on a path to international stardom. Hardwell’s return at Ultra earlier this year was one of the biggest moments in dance music in recent years, surprising everyone with a brand new big room techno sound. His Ultra set and his Tomorrowland set give him the 3rd and 4th most viewed tracklists of the year. He’s followed by Ultra sets from Alesso at #5, Afrojack at #6, FISHER at #7, and Tiësto at #8. Coming in 9th is KREAM with one of their renowned LIQUID : LAB sets, this one taking place at Kistefos Museum in Norway. JAUZ & NIGHTMRE’s rocking b2b set at the Worldwide Stage from Ultra takes home the 10th spot in 2022.

Top Labels

A mainstay at the top of the label rankings, Spinnin’ Records is this year’s top label, followed by Musical Freedom (up 1) and Revealed Recordings (up 2). Armada Music and STMPD RCRDS round out the Top 5. There are three newcomers to the top 10 of the label rankings this year: Future House Music is up 6 spots to #6, Insomniac Records is a huge riser of 16 spots to #8, and Atlantic Records moves up 5 spots to take home 10th place. Also returning in the top 10 again this year are Armind Records at #7 and Toolroom Records at #9.

Top Radio Shows

Tiësto’s Club Life radio show remains the #1 radio show of the year for the second year in a row, followed by the 1001Tracklists Exclusive Mix series at #2, Heldeep Radio from Oliver Heldens at #3, A State Of Trance from Armin van Buuren and Ruben de Ronde at #4, and W&W’s Rave Culture Radio rounding out the top 5.
