We’ve been working on framework upgrades and modernization improvements, and a major 1001Tracklists Product Update is coming soon!

These enhancements will optimize site performance, include UI/UX enhancements and also introduce an often requested new feature — Darkmode. This product update is a milestone that’s been a long time in the making, and part of an even bigger design update coming in a few months!

In addition to the upcoming site updates, we’re really excited to present a new offering! 1001Tracklists at its core is a community of DJs, and we will now offer DJ Promo Campaigns. We’ve set up our Inflyte account to bring you the freshest music from Main Stage headlining acts to leading Underground DJs to up and comers whose productions have placed them on the cutting edge of electronic music! You can submit your music for consideration here, and if you’re a DJ and interested in signing up for the 1001Tracklists promo list, you can do so using the same form.

Over at Songstats, we have just launched a major new feature — the Audience Tab! The Audience Tab gives you a comprehensive view of all of your listeners and chart positions across the world, and shows you the countries where your releases are gravitating the most.

Last month we also pushed a Product Update where we integrated TIDAL into Songstats, and we’re now notifying you when you’ve landed a coveted Pinned Position on Spotify editorial playlists. Meanwhile we’ve been busy laying the groundwork for several key product updates which are coming soon!

Enjoy a Q&A with two hardstyle-loving members of the 1001Tracklists user community, AboveColin & Sambalbij!

When did you first get into hardstyle, and what was it about hardstyle that drew you in?

AboveColin: My first interaction with hardstyle was Wildstylez — “Year of Summer.” It was played pretty often in 2012/2013 on Dutch radio. Next to that, I listened to Headhunterz — “Colors” and while biking to school, friends would play a lot of Angerfist and other hardcore/hardstyle music. But at the time I was most of the time listening to big room music. When I heard some of the Coone remixes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike tracks and big room was getting more stale in my opinion and didn’t give me that wow effect anymore, I was drawn into the hardstyle genre around 2016 and searched up more and more. I was in love with the euphoric atmosphere in the tracks with the huge melodies and the incredible energy on the drops.

Sambalbij: I got into the genre when I was about 16 year old when I went to a nearby hardstyle festival called Intents! What I really liked about the festival was the ambiance, the decor and especially the people 🙂. Everyone was friendly and if you spilled some beer on someone, no one got mad (that can be different on other festivals). Later I worked a few jobs at the festival 😉

Who are your favorite hardstyle artists? Who are some up and comers who we should pay attention to?

AboveColin: My favorite artist overall and all-time must be Headhunterz, from his old catalog to his music outside of the hardstyle genre to his newer hardstyle music — it’s all on a different level.

My favorite upcoming artist would definitely Hatom, his music is insane, every release is a banger with crazy kicks and amazing energy. I also really appreciate the music that Vertile and Voidax are putting out. Both are making beautiful and powerful atmospheres, and Vertile has a really unique type of kicks. Both are probably the future of the genre for me.

Sambalbij: Personally I like the music that D-Block & S-te-Fan are making, from the funny Hardstyle Carnaval songs under the name of ‘De Boys van Hardstyle Carnaval’ together with Villain to the music of Dee-Block & S-te-pack. These are all great!

In my opinion Crude Intentions is underappreciated at the moment. He makes great remixes and produces in various genres such as hardstyle but also (sometimes) hardcore, look out for that guy, he will be big!

What do you think of the state of today’s hardstyle scene?

AboveColin: I really enjoy the current state of hardstyle. A lot of experimenting is happening and I also enjoy the new elements that artists are bringing in. Though I think hardstyle is missing the festivals — hardstyle is of course made for the big stage in my opinion.

Sambalbij: Overall I listen to and make tracklists for the freestyle area of hardstyle such as Dr. Rude, Outsiders, Ruthless and Zany. This is the hardstyle sound that I’ve really been enjoying lately!
