Day 8 — Laguna Beach, CA… And Moving Forward

The following photos were taken in Laguna Beach, CA. A beautiful place where surfers rejoice and a land full of art and luxury.
Laguna has a sense of that “high class” town: Fancy convertible cars, independent designer stores, art collectors boutiques all around and despite all that, much like California, it’s also a place opened to everyone.

But today’s post isn’t just about Laguna Beach regardless of the photos of it being the core of this new publication. There’s something else I wanted to say today.
It’s inevitable not to see somebody’s personality and get to know about them when you read their “personal blog”. It is them being themselves… Or at least some part of themselves that they want people to see. Whatever the case, to some level, you will end up knowing the writer. The author. The creator.
And despite me trying to keep this publication strictly as a photography blog and nothing more, I’ve found myself showing what I like, where I’ve been, who I am and what I care about.
The thing is that Photography, to me, is about capturing a moment in time which would graphically tell a story. Yet while that is still true, I used to believe that that story was far more important than the story of the photo itself. I was wrong. Very wrong.
What I have realized lately is that even tough photography is a powerful mean to tell a story, the story of the photo and the story of the photographer are just as powerful as the photo taken.
That is because the story behind a photo will always have a cause. It will always have a reason. A photo is the result of a bigger picture and in most cases, the result of a deep feeling. It is the hope of never forgetting, the will to communicate a message, the need to show a situation and the call to take action.
So, for all that, I now will start, willingly, showing you with my photos the story of what I like, where I’ve been, who I am and specially, what I care about.
Thank you for being a great audience and cheers to getting to know each other.
Stay strong,
Juan
