100 Days of Code: Day 30
Yep, I did it! I finally completed my Bootstrap 4 course on Udemy! I made the decision to power through the rest of my work so I can move on to other things I’ve wanted to work on.
This also meant I needed to complete the project I was already on, and was just past the halfway point with a bit more to work on, and complete an entire project in the same day. Not an easy task, but I was able to do it and it feels great to have it done.
This certificate of completion feel just as good as my college degrees right now. And I feel like I put just about the same amount of work into getting this done as I did my college classes.
So to elaborate on what I worked on today, I completed the Glozzom Theme, which is the first theme that had different pages using the new styles, and completed the entirety of the Portfloigrid, a one-page portfolio template.
The Glozzom theme wasn’t really anything I haven’t encountered before in the wild; the Portfoligrid was cool to work on since it was a neat way to use a one-page theme using just the basic styles and one additional add-on. I really liked the way you could use collapse as a class and have it switch the view of the portfolio section like it would an accordion, but better. Almost makes me want to use that as my new portfolio layout — I was really that impressed!
I did run into so trouble with Lorem Pixel today since the site was down, so I ended up using PlaceImg, which is set up the same way as Lorem Pixel but uses different images.
Used Slick Slider in the Portifoligrid template to display the portfolio work in a lightbox. Really glad I kept the code handy from the Glozzom project so I could copy/pasta that in and knew it would work the first time around.
Did have to reference the Bootstrap documentation for using input-group-append and input-group-prepend today since the course was using the input-group-addon class from the beta version. Took me a minute to get things setup correctly, but I was able to do it. Oh, the joys of watching tutorial videos with a different version of the same software and trying to figure out how things work now. #coderproblems
But I’ve learned a lot in doing this course. I got my hands dirty with a new CSS framework, got to use it in 5 different projects, and have reference material to use when I go to make my own work. If this isn’t an epic win for today, I don’t know what is!
So that’s it for me today awesome people. I’m planning on cozying up with a comic before I head to bed. But for the rest of you cool people out there, stay classy and code on!
