Context

Motivation inside development team is low. People tend to see negative things more than what is good and works.

Action

Introduce a culture of celebration.

For example, you may give out little presents for achieving the Sprint goal.
Go for a team beer/soft drink after the retrospective.

The award should always be for the whole team, never for individuals.

What you gain

Increased motivation.

People start to see what works, the negative aspects are valued less.

How to strengthen

Talk with your team about what success (even little ones) look like in your team.

Risks

People do their job for the present. Therefore, keep the presents small. The act of celebration is the thing we aim for.

Beware of self-deception due to celebrations that cover up problems.
