One time Ananda approached the Buddha, paid homage, and said, “O Master, good friendship, good companionship, good comradeship is half of the holy life!”
Replied the Buddha, “Not so, Ananda! Good friendship, good companionship, good comradeship is the entire holy life. When a monk has a good friend, a good companion, a good comrade, it is to be expected that he will develop on the noble path.”
