Choosing development partners to create web or mobile apps can be tough. Clients we work with usually choose our company over some others. We talked to them and found answers for how to find the best development partners and what criteria a good development company has.

Importance

Creating your own web site or app is important, especially in startups where the whole business process can go through the app or site.

It happens that further living depends on the success of the product that has to be developed. Inside company’s, the people responsible for choosing a development team can be fired if the project goes wrong. Startups can loose all of their money if the product is developed badly.

Here come some basic rules of choosing development partners.

True or False?

In every sphere of our life, we can meet people who take our money and don’t provide anything in return. Unfortunately, this happens in business also.

To save money, choose responsible contractors by checking their website. It should look appropriate. Find testimonials on the site and don’t hesitate to investigate the existence of people who claim themselves as clients of this company. Check them through LinkedIn and Facebook.

Another way to determine responsible contractors is by checking their website with a tool called The Way Back Machine. If the site has no history at all, it might be created to fool people. Be careful here.

However, don’t forget that a reason for no history can be a domain name change. Don’t judge solely by this criteria, but keep it in mind during all stages of choosing a development company.

Specialization

You wouldn’t let a small-boat driver run a huge cruise-liner with thousands of people on board. This is why it is important to check the specialization of a prospective development company.

There are different companies with different niches. Check out what they say about themselves, and look at their portfolio.
Make sure that the company is capable of developing your product. Talk with company representatives. They can answer your questions.

Speaking with them might save lots of your time and money. A company can share if they have developed a similar product not included in their portfolio. This information could be shared by someone inside of the company only. If they have experience in similar product development, the developers and the designers in the company could provide great consulting and the best user experience.

In Conclusion

Spend enough time on your development partners search to make sure that companies you are choosing from have a professional website and an appropriate portfolio. Feel free to contact the company’s manager to ask some questions. Find a company on Clutch and read their feedback with details about the companies’ clients’ projects. Good luck in your search and product development!
