1 Idea 💭 Running — Just Get Started
I’ve been running for about 3 months and I wanted to take some time to reflect on running; what it means to me, what helps me run, and why you should just go for it!
“Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Say you’re running and you think, ‘Man, this hurts, I can’t take it anymore. The ‘hurt’ part is an unavoidable reality, but whether or not you can stand anymore is up to the runner himself.” — Haruki Murakami
This quote from Murakami sums up the practice of running perfectly; pain is inevitable, but suffering is entirely optional.
Why do I run?
Is there something in your life that, no matter what you do, you fail every time?
Running was that thing for me. Ever since I was a kid I always hated running; pretty inconvenient for someone who played in a football team and loves virtually all other sports. No matter what I’d do, running never stuck.
