This year at Normative, we’ve decided to redesign our approach to holiday giving. While the holiday season is a popular time for philanthropy, we believe that generosity and kindness should be a year-round commitment.

That’s why this year, we’re pledging to donate our time and resources once a month for the next 12 months to help the less fortunate. By doing this, not only can we spread the holiday cheer year-round, but we also have the opportunity to help tackle a more diverse range of issues affecting our community.

Throughout the course of the next 12 months, we’re pleased to be able to contribute $50,000 in-kind to a variety of charitable organizations and activities. In fact, we’ve already gotten a head start by donating this month to the Toronto Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive, which helps thousands of families in need celebrate the holidays.

As part of this year-long undertaking, we wanted to incorporate the values of our network in deciding where to spend our time and resources. In mid-December, we asked our valued connections to fill out a link to a survey to identify causes and initiatives that matter to them. Early next year, we’ll take a look at the causes they’re passionate about and begin to plan the following months to ensure that we’re giving back to organizations that reflect their values.

We’ll be documenting our initiatives each month in this blog series, called Normative’s 12 Months of Giving. We can’t wait to share these experiences with you!

Here’s to reimagining “giving” in the new year!
