3 reasons why Trader Joe’s should use Pinterest.

Trader Joe’s has been very reserved in terms of their marketing presence. It looks like that Trader Joe’s strategy is to build a brand via consumers’ experiences not the advertising.

This strategy is playing well for Trader Joe’s so far. But is there any channel of communication that could work well for Trader Joe’s? In my opinion there is. Pinterest is a relatively young rising platform that has perfect fit for Trader Joe’s.

So why should Trader Joe’s bring Pinterest on board?

Firstly, Pinterest is big on recipes and Trader Joe’s could endlessly leverage on that. Value could go beyond creating own posts and could also come from fueling the UGC via varies promotions and dialogs.

Secondly, Pinterest allows Trader Joes not only to feature its products, but also to get its customers inspired by the lifestyle and values of the brand.

Finally, Pinterest is a great opportunity for Trader’s Joes to demonstrate to the fans that it appreciates them. Currently Trader Joe’s has almost 7 000 fans that self selected themselves to various Pinterest boards that are related to Trader Joe’s, yet there is no dialog with those consumers.

Looking back to the reasons above one is clear: should Pinterest be implemented to the marketing mix it will bring a great contribution to customer experiences around the chain.
