Today is a great day to be alive! We are fortunate to live in a world where artificial intelligent secretaries can manage your calendar, mankind has landed spacecrafts on Mars and the autonomous car is a breakthrough that is going to happen any day now. It is truly an exciting time to live in. Technology is continuously improving at such a rapid state it is hard to keep up! It is thanks to the men and women who are passionate and have dedicated their lives to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) that we have such an advanced civilization.

In order to continue humankind’s pursuit of technological progress I am recommending Elon Musk, through his companies Tesla & SpaceX, leverage upon social media, specifically Vine, to inspire the next generation of Stephen Hawking’s & Albert Einstein's. Elon’s entrepreneurial endeavors typically have focused upon changing the world for the better. In order to do so, Elon has relied upon brilliant scientific minds to make his dreams come true. However, nowadays talent is hard to find and even more expensive to acquire. Nevertheless, Elon can use social media to not only develop a pipeline of talented young scientist, but also raise the brand image of his companies as cutting edge places to work!

This social media strategy will be specifically targeting a young audience, 11–18 year-olds, which is why Vine is a perfect platform to reach them as their current user base is predominantly teen. In addition, the 6 second video run-time constraint is ideal as today’s millennials are easily distracted.

The content strategy for this social media campaign would be to show short science videos to amaze, astound and inspire young minds to pursue an education within STEM. Below is an example:

I would expect this type of infotainment to do well with the target audience on Vine. Other videos that showcase awe and amazement through magic (e.g. Zach King with 1.3B loops/views) have achieved considerable virality. Yet what is science through the eyes of a 11 year old child, but magic!
