Social media is designed to help πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ to social with each other more efficiently. Every work has a certain degree of social activities, such as collaborations and meetings. This indicates opportunities to use social media for every work. Some of the work naturally have more social activities, such as customer service, sales and human resource, while others may emphasis more on individual efforts. The difference in job nature decides the different usage of social media at workplace.

I wonder how effective social media will be with regard to facilitating cross-team communication. Cross-team communication is difficult, not because people cannot reach out, but because people has too much to focus on within their own team. Even if social media can facilitate the communication, it is more an efficiency tool than a key driver of cross-team communication. Without a motive to cross-team communicate, this tool will be rarely used.
