Josh is one of my classmates and receives more engagement “likes” than any other friend on Facebook. Excluding celebrities, Josh has the most engagement of any person that I follow on Facebook. Much of what drives Josh’s social media strategy is his inherently exciting life. In the last few months, I’ve seen pictures of him in South Africa, South America, and at Coachella. He’s pictured above with Hillary Clinton. In our first year of school, he posted a picture of himself with President Obama. He travels more than any person I know and chronicles his adventures mainly through photos with little text on Facebook. Everyone dreams of leading Josh’s life and this leads to his cult following.

However, I am more impressed with Josh’s ability to attract engagement even when dealing with the quotidian. For example, a recent post of him at a picnic received 100+ likes. I believe this is because Josh attracts such a large following through the exotic that even the boring looks interesting to a normal user or friend. The moral of the story? Hit home runs on social media and even the singles will look like triples.
