According to their website, the “MKO is a non-profit, political advocacy organization that provides a collective voice on issues of inherent, Treaty, aboriginal and human rights for the citizens of the 30 sovereign First Nations [they] represent.”
They recently proposed a joint plan (with the Saskatchewan-based Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations) to change health care to Indigenous Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett that seems be gaining traction.

It’s early days, but the new charter is supposed to give front-line workers and First Nations communities more of a say in responding to crises.
