Hello! My name is Daquana and I will be interviewing you for a school project. Homelessness is the topic you will be interviewed on, because throughout many streets in California, homelessness has began to increase immensely. I truly believe everyone deserves to have a safe warm place to live especially with the correct amount of supplies. What I would like to know is your views on how this all can come to an end and how to stop Americans from falling into a rut, also known as homelessness.

Interviewing: Ayjumilupito

Topic: Homeless people/ poverty

1. Why do you think people end up giving up on themselves, and become homeless?

I think that people give up on themselves because the system has already given up on us. It is only up to us to really work to not become homeless. In reality, we become homeless because not everyone is fortunate and have the skills to be able to get a high pay job. People begin to loose self esteem, confidence, and hope.

2. Do you feel bad for homeless people or feel like they actually motivate you to do better in life?

I feel bad for what they have to go through, because in a single day without eating a single meal. This is a huge issue that does not motivate me in life but actually makes me want to go deeper into why isn’t their enough jobs for everyone. Because the government wants us to follow the laws, and tell us that we are protected but in reality they are holding us back. There is no need for all this homelessness.

3. Do you consider the United States of America a selfish country?

Hell yeah. I consider every corporation selfish. I feel like the United States isn’t united but stuck together in a huge pickle. Like why the hell do we have churches praising the lord and all this good stuff if they can’t even help a homeless person in front of their church.

4. What do you feel, when you walk down the street and see poverty all around?

I feel so sad. Like you want to help that person so much. Buying someone a meal won’t help this person but it will do good. Everyone needs to open their eyes and realize we have to take care of each other or else we are practically killing each other even more.

5. If there was no such thing as poverty how do you think the world would be? How does gentrification tie into poverty?

The world would be so much better and easier. Everyone would be living stress free. But to live in a world were there is no poverty means there would equity amongst us. Also, gentrification would not be negative thing which is what it has become now. It would be something everyone would enjoy becuase no one’s homes are getting evicted for a business.

6. If you were the richest person on earth would you give all of your money, every single penny, just to end world hunger and poverty?

I would use the money to gather every single soul on earth to realize money ain’t shit, and we ourselves can end poverty if we all worked together and become more open to the idea of being human with each other and to listen.

7. Do you believe welfare is something to be ashamed of?

I don’t think so. The government or banks, whoever thinks they own us and the planet wants us to feel ashamed. Everyone should get welfare checks because we deserve it. We work our asses of all day everyday to only get 2 days maybe 1 good day to enjoy our lives them go back to work. We deserve support from the government.

8. How do homeless people impact our community?

It just shows how we all are selfish and don’t have the communication skills to be able to help each other in a sense that we are people the same.

9. There is so much poverty all over the world. Why, explain.

I believe the main reason there is so much poverty around the world is because money. People become selfish and greedy with money. The people who think money will buy you happiness and will save you. Yes and no. It creates a huge contradiction. Because a city with so much poverty can have so much money.

10. What song do you know that connects with poverty?

Tupac, Changes. I feel like this song is so old but so real because he talks strictly facts that he talked about when I was born which is still going on today. My favorite line is “I made a G today.” But you made it in a sleazy way.

Sellin’ crack to the kids. “I gotta get paid.”

Well hey, well that’s the way it is.

It’s so true. People do what they have to do which is to survive even if it means poisoning each other.
