Have you ever tried the best Ceviche in Peru? Or the most exquisite Arroz de Verano? How about the best Causa Rellena? If you’ve never gone to Punto Azul, the answer is absolutely no. But what are you waiting for?! Punto Azul opened their doors to the public in 1997 by selling Ceviche with chicha morada in the intersection of Av. Petit Thouars and Av. Javier Prado. Throughout the years, what started as a family business has been awarded by Mistura for the Best Ceviche Mixto.

Punto Azul has opened various restaurants around Lima so they can be each day closer to you. For example, if you live in San Borja and you want to invite your family to eat some delicious Peruvian seafood, there is no need to drive through the fearful Av. Javier Prado, which is a pain in the back and a headache for thousands of peruvians, and get stuck in traffic for endless “hours”. There is a Punto Azul in Av. Joaquín Madrid 253, where you’ll enjoy a magnificent dinner.

If you live in Miraflores, there are two Punto Azul restaurants waiting for you, you just need to choose the closer one for you. The first one is located in Av. Alfredo Benavides 2711, while the other one is located a couple of blocks further in Calle San Martin 595.

But if you are a student of the UPC (Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas) and you are exhausted of having coffee as lunch at the university every single day, you can walk or drive to Punto Azul that’s two minutes away and it’s located in Av. Primavera 2235, Surco.

Punto Azul Primavera

But if you are very hungry and you are driving through Caminos Del Inca, don’t worry Punto Azul is near you! You just need to keep driving until you get to Av. Caminos del Inca 845 where the tempting heavenly diet breaker is waiting for you.

However, if you want to visit the classic Punto Azul, the first one ever opened in Peru and learn a little more about it’s history, it is worth driving to Esq. Javier Prado con Petit Thouars in San Isidro. Now your job is to open Waze and find the nearest Punto Azul!

Punto Azul San Isidro

Think about the most delicious Ceviche you’ve ever tried. Now place a check mark if it met all of the following requirements. It has extra lemon so your Ceviche tastes as the classic Ceviche of Piura, Peru. You have been served a fair amount of Ceviche that matches the price, not a tiny piece of fish that what costs more is the plate than the dish itself. The perfect touch of rocoto, that isn’t or too spicy or doesn’t have flavor. If you’ve never gone to Punto Azul, the answer is lamentably that you’ve never tried the best Ceviche in Peru. The chefs of Punto Azul are natals from Piura and know how the real Ceviche tastes like. The secret that makes the Ceviche of Punto Azul so distinguished from all other restaurants in Peru is that the onion they use is not bitter, it’s actually sweet. This gives the ceviche the perfect touch of sweetness.

Ceviche de Pescado

Another famous plate Punto Azul is recognized for its divine Arroz Punto Azul. This dish is made by “arroz al ají amarillo” with a touch of bacon and a delicious creamy sauce of squid, shrimp and octopus that gives the seafood taste.

If you are hungry by reading all of the descriptions of the Ceviche and the Arroz Punto Azul, beware because the following sentences include detailed explanation of “Causa de Pulpo de Cangrejo” of Punto Azul. Made by mashed potatoes with freshly cooked crabs in the inside and covered in golf sauce and mayonnaise, is a dish that not even a model could resist.

This amazing restaurant has more than 960 reviews in tripadvisor with more than ¾ of the reviews rated 5 stars. It has an average of 4.5 stars in tripadvisor and it is located in the number 33 of places to eat in Lima. Punto Azul has been awarded by Mistura, a festival in which the best Peruvian Cuisine is presented for the entire national and international public, for four consecutive years (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015) for having the best Ceviche Mixto. Being a Mistura award winner has brought hundreds of customers to Punto Azul for its sublime ceviche, especially if 89% of peruvians have Ceviche as their favorite dish.

After eating every single mouth watering dish I’ve described before I have no doubt that Punto Azul is the best seafood restaurant in all Peru. Not only because of their magnificent plates but also for their great service and atmosphere it has. The waitress, chef’s, supervisor and even the woman that assign you a spot treats you with total respect and kindness. Due to its great demand of orders of customers that come near 1:30 p.m there is no longer tables for everyone, so a lady will invite you to a lounge where you can wait a couple of minutes until your table is ready. As courtesy, they invite you the most pleasant “Leche de Tigre” in earth. For sure, I would recommend this restaurant to people who love Peruvian seafood or for the ones that have never tried it before so they can have a taste of what real food is.

San Isidro: Monday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
Caminos del Inca, Primavera, San Borja (both restaurants) and Benavides: Tuesday to a Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
San Martín: Monday: 6pm a 00 am / Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 00 am/ Domingo: 11am a 4pm.
