The Road to the UKTC (Leaving Your Comfort Zone)

The UK Team Championship is now in its third year, and having attended the previous ones, I knew how fun it would be and tried my hardest to attend.

The rules pack is available here, but the main crux is three players per team, each flying a different faction. Lists are made public before the event to help plan player match ups, adding some control if your team has the lowest combined points.

For the first UKTC I flew imperials, and for the second I flew scum, so for the third it only made sense for me to fly rebels for a change.

Disclaimer over 4 years of tournaments I have flown rebels in less then 10 events, as I flew imperials until scum came out, then switched to scum

However since a certain future FAQ was leaked (or not?) I had moved away from my beloved Parajanni, trying Imperials out first, then Rebels (shock gasp). I flew Dash & Intensity Poe in a tournament, going 3–1 including a bye, however the lure of the Auzituck gunships was calling me, as having flown Bossk for awhile I had a healthy respect of the 180 degree firing arc.

I tried out the two named pilots with Biggs, however I dislike flying Biggs, so stopped. I then came across a three Auzituck list that had done pretty well at the UK Nationals, flown by Marc Rider.

Auzituck Gunship Wookiee Liberator (26)
Trick Shot (0)
Gunner (5)
Tactician (2)
Ship Total: 33

Auzituck Gunship Wookiee Liberator (26)
Trick Shot (0)
Gunner (5)
Tactician (2)
Ship Total: 33

Auzituck Gunship Wookiee Liberator (26)
Adaptability (0)
Operations Specialist (3)
Tactician (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Ship Total: 34

Way back in wave four, I tried out two Lambda shuttles with tactician, gunner, adv sensors and engine upgrade, alongside a PTL Soontir to keep them company. Stress is an amazing control, there is only one ship that isn’t effected by it (Tycho) and while certain builds can lessen the effect, I felt inspired, however I only had two gunships, so improvised a list while waiting for the third.

ARC-170 Braylen Stramm (25)
Gunner (5)
R3-A2 (2)
Alliance Overhaul (0)
Ship Total: 32

Auzituck Gunship Lowhhrick (28)
Lightning Reflexes (1)
Tactician (2)
Gunner (5)
Ship Total: 36

Auzituck Gunship Wookiee Liberator (26)
Lightning Reflexes (1)
Tactician (2)
Operations Specialist (3)
Ship Total: 32

This list can hand out serious amounts of stress, and Lightning Reflexes is surprisingly good, especially on a ship without a K-turn (well, duh!).

I’ve played against quad B-wings, several semi ps11 cruise missile lists (only packing two cruises) and also quad TLT Aggressors and beaten them all, only losing to Miranda/Poe (I just couldn’t take down Miranda despite her having 6–7 stress at one point).

I tried out a 3 gunship list similar to Marc Rider’s list, but I really quite like Braylen and Lowhhrick in the list, so submitted that as my list for the UKTC.

Team 186th Silly is:

Pete Wood flying Scum

Tom Duncan flying Imperial

And myself (obviously).

There are four 186th teams going, as well as a couple of teams from fellow London squad TNX, so there will be plenty of friendly rivalry.

Win or lose, I shall write a report about my experiences. Til then.
