1880 WWF

We may have stolen the acronym but we’re neither wrestlers nor wildlife enthusiasts. We could be Wicked Wild Females, or the Wonderful Women’s Forum.

Through 2018, we hosted a series of dinners for a few groups of women at 1880 who are each putting a dent in the universe in their own unique way. Every one who came shared their stories of most cherished moments, deepest wishes, hopes and aspirations, times of clarity and courage, times of doubt and fear, essentially — life.

It became clear that we all lead incredibly busy lives and while we may be at different stages of life, of being old, young, or young at heart, single, married, unmarried, healthy, stressed, in or out of jobs, whatever our states of mind and body, when we get together, something magical happens. There is a communion of sorts and we nourish ourselves and each other, brightening and lightening our spirits through laughter and tears.

I was reflecting on 2018 and it was very clear that the highlights were all about friendships both old and new that made 2018 such a memorable year for me. We launched 1880 with a mission to build a community and what happened was truly amazing.

This is the genesis of the 1880 Women’s Forum, to share this one thing with you… to build deep and nurturing friendships that will see us through our darkest hours and find among each other, soul sisters with whom we can share our happiest moments.

Why a women’s forum

I subscribe to a few podcasts and blogs and Joe’s recent blog really hit home for me so I’m stealing his words here…(Joe is the Founder of Spartan Races and a friend — thanks for this Joe!)

A UCLA study about friendship among women show that participants who had no friends increased their risk of death over a 6-month period. Women who had the most friends over a 9-year period drastically cut their risk of death by more than 60 percent!

Friends keep us happy, hold us accountable, and can greatly contribute to our overall success or failure. We need friends who will inspire us, encourage us, and help us get back up when we fall.
