Parking at Arcadia: Hit or Miss
Anyone who is a student or staff at Arcadia University knows that parking here is less than ideal. If you want to get to campus around 12 for lunch, class, or anything in the Kuch Center, you are better off walking from wherever you are coming from, no matter how far, because there will be no spots available. Sometimes, you will drive in circles for hours looking for one lucky soul to leave a spot open to hopefully snag before any others do. The most convenient parking spots are in the Kuch Center parking lot which is the most centrally located on campus. The next best would be the ones in front of Boyer. Sometimes all of these spots are full. Every. Single. One. It is incredibly infuriating when you need to be somewhere and you allot 15 minutes to get there, but all of that time gets eaten up trying to find somewhere to park.
The only parking lot on campus that is always reliable for parking is right by Murphy Hall. You will always be guaranteed a front-row parking spot. It makes sense because this well-kept secret of a building is tucked away from most of the other main buildings. While it is a hill, it is more reliable than driving around for 15 minutes in a desperate search. If it is a cold day and the walk is what is deterring you, then you can walk through the buildings to get to where you are going. Easton and Brubaker already connect and make for a long warm hallway and can practically shuttle you any direction you need to go.
Even at the busiest time of day, Murphy will always have parking available to students. Recently, PT students have flooded the buildings on Fridays for labs and practical learning assignments. During these days there are upwards of 100+ additional students and staff in Murphy Hall at one time. These days are the only times that Murphy Hall begins to look like that of its brothers and sisters in the parking lot realm of Arcadia University. Not only do PT students take up space in our building that leads to rude and obnoxious encounters, but it also leads to less parking available for media and communications students, as well as a lot of business students that use the lot.
An interesting fact about Murphy Hall parking is that you used to be able to drive under into the courtyard and there were parking spots there. While there is not that anymore, as this space has been turned into a beautiful courtyard for students, there still is always somewhere to park at reliable Murphy.
