Hallmark Announces New Christmas Card Series
New Designs Reflect Changing Times
Mike Perry, President and CEO of Hallmark Cards, recently announced a new series of holiday cards aimed at keeping up with our rapidly changing world. “Our Christmas cards,” said Perry, “are outdated. They represent a world that no longer exists.” For example, cards featuring well-nourished polar bears or a North Pole covered in snow are no longer realistic. The new cards attempt to address this as well as other effects of a warming climate such as species migration, sea-level rise, glacial melting and extreme weather events. In addition, the new cards tackle sensitive subjects which include the pandemic, marijuana legalization, the 2nd amendment, immigration and recent abortion laws.
“We believe,” said Perry, “that these cards will spark conversation during the upcoming holidays and throughout the months to come. We may not change the world, but at least we can all have a good laugh before it’s gone.”
