3 Powerful Ways to Improve Readability Every Writer Should Know

The writing quality and the title matter a lot when it comes to attracting the reader’s attention. However, the article structure determines if the reader schemes your post or reads it until the end.

My very first Medium post was curated in 4 categories, but its readability ratio was 29%. However, the newest pieces have a 40–70% readability rate.

As a writer, I follow 3 simple principles when I structure articles to facilitate the reading experience and improve the depths of reading.

1. Use a Page Separator

Cut long content blocks with the help of a page separator. I use it to visually create white spacing between H2 paragraphs.

The separator helps to understand where the author finishes one thought and starts a new one. This way, readers can easily navigate to the paragraph they are eager to read.

When I write on Medium, I use writer’s toolkit to embed the separator on the page:
