You apply to numerous jobs daily.

No answer.

Or.

The reply:

“Thank you for your application for the [job position title] at [company’s name]. …, unfortunately, we have to inform you that this time we won’t be able to invite you to the next phase of our selection process.”

You get frustrated.

You are not able to figure out how to at least make it to the interview stage.

The problem

First of all, you should know that You are not the problem here.

Then, what’s the problem?

It’s the current hiring process.

Usually, these days companies use ATS systems for processing job applications. ATS is an emotionless algorithm that parses resumes based on the keywords and other matching things with the Job description.

Network. Network. Network.

You may be using many social media sites.

Do you use it for a purpose or just ‘socializing’? It’s your secret weapon for getting a job if you realize its true potential.

Do you love meeting people? Go to community events around you. It might help you get a job.

Do you go to school or college? Connect with your college’s career office. They may help you.

Takeaway

At the end of the day, everything boils down to how good’s your network and what’s your pitch to them.

Whatever you do daily, leverage it to share your knowledge with the people. Spark insightful conversations. Engage with the community.

Believe me; you’ll always have a job!
